Sony Announces 'All-New' PlayStation Plus With Access To 700+ Games And 'More Value Than Ever!'
Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Sony finally revealed its plans for a massive PlayStation Plus overhaul. PS Plus will soon be merged together with PS Now. And more than 700 games will become available for download or streaming as part of that merge. There are three pricing tiers depending on the type of service you want. These features could help PS Plus compete with Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass.

What Is PS Plus?

PlayStation Plus is an online subscription service that allows PS4 and PS5 owners to access multiplayer components of many PS games. They also get two free downloadable games per month, discounts on the PlayStation Store, and cloud storage to store saved game files.

All of this will not change with the PS Plus overhaul, which will be implemented in the summer. The service will get two new “tiers”, which will allow for hundreds more games to stream or download. The “old” PS will become the lowest or the first tier. It will still cost the same, and it will do pretty much the same thing written above.

When Will The New PlayStation Plus Become Available?

Sony has yet to give a date for the PS Plus redesign release. You can still subscribe to PS Plus, as you would normally, and enjoy the usual array of benefits, including online play, cloud saving, rotating downloadable and other games, etc.

These tiers will likely be available this summer. According to Sony.

What Games Will You Find on PlayStation Plus?

We know of six games that Sony will include in PlayStation Plus’ higher tiers at the moment:

  • Death Stranding
  • God of War (2018)
  • Marvel’s Spider-Man
  • Miles Morales, Marvel’s Spider-Man
  • Mortal Kombat 11
  • Returnal

Sony will likely provide a complete list of titles closer to launch. Many PlayStation Now games may simply be transferred to the new PlayStation Plus. This would allow players to have a pre-made library of PS2, PS3, or PS4 games. We don’t know how the transition will go, so we won’t speculate as to which games will or won’t be included.

Sony promises a mix of first- and second-party content, but it does not appear that new PS5 games will be available on PlayStation Plus. This functionality is currently only available through Xbox Game Pass.
